Utrecht University has its own e-mail service for students: G-mail for students. All Utrecht University students are assigned their own University e-mail account. G-mail offers comprehensive e-mail services, including diary management and storage. Via the Internet, you can access this system from anywhere in the world.
More information about Gmail for students can be found on the page UU-Gmail voor studenten on the UU website.
Forwarding Gmail
All official correspondence from the University to students will be sent to your university e-mail address only. If you would like your e-mails to be automatically forwarded from this address to another address (e.g. a Gmail or Hotmail or Yahoo e-mail account), you need to configure a forwarding address.
Setting up a mailforward in Gmail
(You might want to set your Gmailaccount to English first. Do this by clicking on the icon at the top right of the screen and choosing "Instellingen voor Gmail". Directly under the tab "Algemeen" it says "Taal". Choose your preferred language from the drop-down menu.)
Click the icon at the top right of the screen and choose "Mail settings". Select the tab "Forwarding and POP/IMAP". Press the button at the top that says "add a forwarding address" and enter the email address that you would like to have your emails forwarded to.
When you encounter problems with you G-mail account, go to the Self Service Desk. Here you need to log in with your solis-id and -password and then you will be able to report any problems which will be dealt with by the ICT Service Centre.
Attention: A number of students might have had an email with information that their Gmail password has been resetted. These students must reset their password via the following link: https://uugmailpasswordreset.uu.nl.
